It’s going to be a very busy week for the Council. Especially Tuesday.
Monday morning’s Council Briefing will include the annual briefing from the Seattle Design Commission. Monday afternoon’s Full Council meeting will see the Council revisit the bill revising the ethics code that they tabled two weeks ago for further discussion among themselves when Council member Tim Burgess loudly objected.
This week’s Introduction and Referral Calendar has three interesting items on it:
- A bill authorizing the purchase of 158 acres of habitat lands as part of Seattle City Light’s acquisition of the license for the Boundary Hydroelectric Project;
- A resolution requiring SPD to provide quarterly briefings to the Council on how they are addressing the department’s overtime issues as documented by the City Auditor;
- A resolution defining principles by which SPD will buy and sell firearms.
Tuesday morning the Planning, Land Use and Zoning Committee will continue its discussion on the Mandatory Housing Affordability – Residential framework. It will also discuss changes to the Comprehensive Plan to increase race and social equity.
Tuesday at noon there will be a special session of the Civil Rights, Utilities, Economic Development and Arts Committee to hear an analysis of San Francisco’s predictive scheduling ordinance.
Tuesday at 1:30 there will be a special Full Council meeting related to issuing bonds for the city’s Solid Waste System improvement.
Tuesday afternoon the Sustainability and Transportation Committee meets. It will review the transportation elements of the 2035 Comprehensive Plan, and will continue its discussion of folding the Transportation Benefit District into the city’s administration.
Wednesday morning the Gender Equity, Safe Communities and New Americans Committee meets. The agenda for the meeting has not yet been published but expect it to take up the aforementioned resolutions on SPD overtime and gun procurement, and to further discuss paid family leave legislation.
Wednesday afternoon’s Human Services and Public Health Committee meeting has been cancelled.
Thursday afternoon there will be a meeting of the Council’s Select Committee on 2016 Seattle City Light Strategic Planning. The agenda for the meeting has not yet been published.
