The budget development process kicks into high gear this week.
Monday morning’s Council Briefing will have a briefing on the recommendations from the Seattle/King County Heroin and Opioid Task Force.
Monday afternoon’s Full Council meeting has several items of note:
- Final approval of the West Seattle Junction and Ballard Parking and Business Improvement Areas;
- Approval of an update to the compensation program for the head of Seattle Public Utilities;
- Approval of an ordinance placing new rules on compostable bags;
- Fifteen appointments to the Seattle Youth Commission.
This week’s Introduction and Referral Calendar has only one item: a contract rezone in South Lake Union.
The Budget Committee then gets down to work, with four meetings this week: a public hearing at 5:30pm Wednesday evening, and three meetings to hear presentations on department budgets Thursday morning, Thursday afternoon, and Friday morning.
At this point there aren’t any other committee meetings scheduled for this week, but don’t be surprised if the Council member Bagshaw schedules a special meeting of the Human Services and Public Health Committee to continue discussion of the pending ordinance to regulate cleanups of unsanctioned homeless encampments.
