The City Council’s vote today to repeal the head tax is all over the news, both locally and nationally.
Here’s the local news coverage of the proposed head tax repeal: Seattle Times, Crosscut (here and here), Curbed, The Stranger (here and here), KING, KOMO, Q13, KUOW, SeattleMet, Seattle Weekly, MyNorthwest, GeekWire, Capitol Hill Seattle Blog, West Seattle Blog, Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle Bike Blog, and Erica Barnett.
And here’s the national news: The Oregonian, The Washington Post, The Hill, Bloomberg, AP, Washington Times, CNBC, Vanity Fair, Spokane Spokesman Review, and Politico.
And to provide a little variety when you’re sick of reading about the head tax, here are a couple of other stories in the news:
Capitol Hill Seattle Blog covers the proposal to let SDOT contract with a private bus companies to extend Metro’s routes.
The Urbanist reports on last week’s ruling in the appeal of EIS for the city-wide MHA upzones.
@KnuteBerger “Already there are indications that at least four incumbents might not run for re-election…”
interesting comment. have there been rumors or announcements going around City Hall?
Yes, but you should just ignore them. It’s way too early to know.
Good point. As recent history has shown, they may be prone to changing their minds anyway, eh? 😉
I’m no political strategist – but surprised that no challengers have stepped forward yet to announce for any of the 7 districts seats.
Given the crowded mayoral race – seems there would be interest – and the first one(s) to announce may benefit a free PR ‘bump’.
With the primaries just over 1 year away – and the candidate filing period <1 year away – wonder when this will start happening.
I would welcome some district candidates/challengers to step forward – if only with the hope that it might get the civic conversation focused back on policy discussions and proposals about what a collective 'Plan B' might look like. (less grandstanding and theatrics)
