A new month, and a busy week for the Council.

Monday morning’s Council Briefing will include an executive session with the city’s attorneys to discuss litigation-related matters.

Monday afternoon’s full City Council meeting will include final votes on:

  • a resolution establishing the Council’s agenda for eviction reform legislation this year;
  • an ordinance renaming parts of Aurora Avenue around the north portal of the new SR99 tunnel.

This week’s Introduction and Referral Calendar includes the following new legislation:

  • The appointment of Susan Taylor to the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission;
  •  The appointment of Saad Bashir as the city’s Chief Technology Officer and head of its IT department;
  •  Appointments to the Domestic Worker Standards Board;
  •  A resolution requesting the city to investigate and report back to the Council on issues surrounding misclassification of employees as independent contractors;
  •  A resolution seeking to send the appointment of Jason Johnson as Director of HSD back to Mayor Durkan and requiring her to complete a formal search process.

Tuesday morning, the Governance, Equity and Technology Committee meets. On its agenda:

  • Susan Taylor’s appointment to the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission;
  • Saad Bashir’s appointment as CTO;
  • three appointments to the Community Surveillance Working Group.

Tuesday afternoon, the Sustainability and Transportation Committee meets. Its agenda includes:

  • an update on the Center City Connector streetcar project;
  • a briefing on the Period of Maximum Constraint;
  •  a report on how the city will be managing and enforcing sidewalk parking of bike-share bikes.

There are three more committee meetings this week for which agendas have not yet been published:

  • the Planning, Land Use and Zoning Committee on Wednesday;
  • the Housing, Health, Energy, and Workers Rights Committee on Thursday. It will probably cover the appointments to the Domestic Worker Standards Board and the resolution on misclassification of workers;
  • the Select Committee on MHA on Friday. It is expected to begin consideration of specific amendments to the pending MHA legislation.
