This week in Council Chambers

The Council slowly starts to ramp back up its work this week.

Monday morning’s Council Briefing has no special presentations, but will include an executive session for the Council members to consult with city attorneys on pending litigation.

Monday afternoon’s full City Council meeting should be short: other than paying the weekly bills, there are no items on the agenda.

This week’s Introduction and Referral Calendar includes the following new pieces of legislation:

  • A resolution urging cooperation between the US and Cuba related to fighting COVID-19.
  • Two ordinances related to contract rezone applications.
  • The appointment of Curry Mayer as Director of the Office of Emergency Management.
  • A long list of other appointments to boards and commissions, including several reappointments to the Community Police Commission.

Tuesday morning, the Public Safety and Human Services Committee meets. On the agenda:

  • the reappointments to the Community Police Commission;
  • the appointment of Curry Mayor as Director of the Office of Emergency Management;
  • the continuing discussion of the “decision agenda” for revisions to the Council’s ordinance banning SPD’s use of so-called “less lethal” crowd control weapons, which Judge Robart enjoined last summer.

Wednesday morning, the Land Use and Neighborhoods Committee meets. The agenda for the meeting has not yet been published, but it is expected to contain further deliberations on an ordinance extending interim floodplain regulations.
