This afternoon King County Elections announced that it has officially certified that the campaign to recall Seattle District 3 Councilmember Sawant has submitted a sufficient number of petition signatures to qualify for an election. It further announced that the election will be held on December 7th. As with all other Washington elections, it will be conducted by mail-in ballot. Yesterday a proposed rezone in the Interbay industrial zone to allow the Seattle Storm to build a practice facility, discussed earlier this week in this article, had a public hearing and discussion in the City Council’s Land Use committee. And despite the dubious legality of such a spot rezone, it will likely be voted out of committee on Friday with little to no opposition.
