In this morning’s council briefing, Council member Harrell gave an update on the negotiations with Comcast since the revelation last week that Philadelphia had negotiated a better deal. He said that Comcast has sent a letter agreeing to provide additional benefits, including service discounts to low-income seniors. Harrell will present the letter (which the City Attorney says is legally binding)when the franchise agreement comes up for vote in this afternoon’s full council meeting, and his belief is that the Council should go ahead and approve the franchise agreement.
