Yesterday swearing in of the new City Council dominates the news this morning. The Seattle Times, The Stranger, and KING 5 all have general coverage of the swearing-in ceremony. In addition, Capitol Hill Seattle Blog focuses on Kshama Sawant’s remarks, and West Seattle Blog on Lisa Herbold.

The Stranger is also reporting that Kshama Sawant is not ruling out a run for the House seat that Jim McDermott will be vacating at the end of this year. The Seattle P-I also speculates on who might run for the House seat and includes Sawant on its list.
KIRO and Q13 are reporting that the NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation have filed a notice that they will appeal the recent ruling upholding Seattle’s tax on gun an ammunition sales.
KUOW reports that artists and musicians (and the stores that support them) are being squeezed out of Capitol Hill by development and rising residential and commercial rents, and that the City Council’s designation of an Arts District does nothing to help.
