This week in Council Chambers

The week will start quietly, but then pick up at the end as the Council starts the next round of deliberations over the 2021 city budget.

Monday morning’s Council Briefing has no special presentations, but is scheduled to include 90 minutes in closed executive session with city attorneys to discuss pending litigation and labor negotiations.

Monday afternoon’s full City Council meeting has no legislation scheduled for final approval.

This week’s Introduction and Referral Calendar includes:

  • the third six-month extension to a moratorium on redevelopment of the two mobile-home parks in the city;
  • twenty one appointments for various committees and boards, as part of the “Get Engaged” program.

All of the items on the IRC are referred directly to the full Council, rather than to committees, since all committee meetings are cancelled during the budget deliberations.

Thursday and Friday, the Council’s Budget Committee meets to hold deliberations on identified issue related to the Mayor’s proposed 2021 budget. Council members were required to submit by last Thursday their list of issues they wanted to discussion; the Council’s central staff collect the issues and at this week’s meetings will present them collated by budget-area. The “issue identification” discussions will likely carry into next week.
