News roundup: it’s Airbnb’s turn

The big news this morning is Council member Tim Burgess’ announcement yesterday that he will be looking at whether Airbnb needs to be regulated.

The Stranger, GeekWire, and Seattlish cover the announcement. The issue is that Airbnb might be  incenting landlords to opt for renting for short terms instead of long-term, thus further exacerbating the housing crisis in the city.

MyNorthwest reports that Council member Sally Bagshaw defended the plan in a conversation with a local radio host.
