This morning Seattle City Council member Lorena Gonzalez confirmed long-standing rumors of her ambition for higher office by announcing that she is running for state Attorney General in the 2020 election.
This morning, Council President Pro Tem Lorena Gonzalez issued a statement declaring that she will not seek to be appointed Mayor for the period between now and the end of November.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell held a press conference late Friday afternoon, once again flanked by city department heads and his family members, to deliver the news that he has decided to decline to serve as Mayor of Seattle through the end of November. But his first 48 hours in office have been busy: he also unveiled four executive orders that he signed today.
